Candle Care Tips
PartyLite candles are easy to look after. Just a little attention keeps them in top condition and burning bright and clean. Follow these simple suggestions to get the most enjoyment from your candles.

Reminders for all candles

Never leave a burning candle unattended!

Always burn candles where you can see them, in the correct holder for the type of candle (your Consultant will help you choose the right one).

Ensure the surface that your candle holder is placed on is stable, level and even, and the candle flame is not close to combustible materials such as curtains or magazines.

Candles burn best away from draughts. If the flame is flickering very quickly, extinguish it, allow to cool and then move it to a draught-free location.

Choose sconces if you have young children or pets in the household. Keep all burning candles away from children and pets.

If you see black carbon deposits building up on a wick, extinguish the wick, wait until the wax has cooled, snip off the tip and then re-light. (Be careful to keep any debris out of the wax).

Use a snuffer to extinguish candle flames. This will prevent wax from spattering and also keeps the candle wick centred.

To prevent the wax colour from fading, keep your candles out of direct sunlight.

Gently polish the surface of candles with a fine mesh stocking to enhance gloss and remove scratches.

Special tips for specific types

VotivesVotives

Always burn votives in a container designed for votive use to maximise candle consumption and safety. PartyLite votive cups have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Always remove the metal base 'sustainer' before adding another votive.

Ensure that votive wicks are centred. A long or crooked wick could crack a glass container.

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm).

TealightsTealights

PartyLite's tealights are "universal" - which means you can use them in both tealight houses and tealight holders.

Always burn tealights in an accessory designed for tealight use to maximise candle consumption and safety. PartyLite tealight holders and tealight houses have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Replace with a new tealight when the wax is consumed.

Taper CandlesTaper Candles

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm).

Ensure these candles fit tightly into the holder, and are perfectly vertical.

Always burn tapers in a holder designed for taper use to maximise candle safety and beauty. PartyLite taper holders have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Extinguish and replace when they burn down to within 1" (2.5 cm) of the holder.

3-Wicks3-Wicks

Ensure you burn a 3-Wick for a minimum of 6 hours, so the wax liquefies to the edge of the candle. This is especially important for the initial lighting.

While the wax is still warm, gently press (or hug) the edges inward to keep the surface even.

Don't trim the wicks, but keep them positioned toward the centre of the candle.

Always burn 3-wick candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximise candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Round pillar candlesRound pillar candles

For bell top pillars, burn for 5 - 10 minutes the first time, and then extinguish and allow to cool. Gradually increase burning time until the bell has gone.

Once the bell top has gone, burn pillars long enough each time so that the wax liquefies to the edge - about 1 hour for each inch of diameter. This prevents "tunnelling" and gives you a bright, visible flame.

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm).

Always burn pillar candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximise candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Discontinue use when 1" (2.5 cm) of wax remains.

Square pillar candlesSquare pillar candles

Corner peaks form naturally - there's no need to shape or hug a square pillar.

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm) each time you light the candle.

Always burn pillar candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximise candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Discontinue use when 1" (2.5 cm) of wax remains.

Ball candlesBall candles

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm) each time you light the candle.

Burn a ball candle for at least 1 hour each time so that the wax liquefies to the edges.

There is no need to 'hug' a ball candle.

Replace with a new candle when the wax is 1" (2.5 cm) from the base.

Always burn ball candles in or on a holder designed for such use to maximise candle safety and beauty. PartyLite accessories have been rigorously tested to conform to the highest standards of safety and performance.

Wax-filled containersWax-filled containers

Trim wicks to ¼" (0.5 cm).

Burn each time for long enough to ensure the wax liquefies to the edges of the container.

Use a snuffer, not the container lid, to snuff the flame.

Keep wicks positioned to the centre of the candle.
